Course Description

Red Hat Enterprise Deployment, Virtualization, and Systems Management is a four-day lab-based course that explores the concepts and methods necessary for successful large-scale deployment and management of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems. Course participants will learn how to install and use a Red Hat Network Satellite Server to deploy and manage systems. The use of virtualization technology as a key deployment tool is also examined. Subjects covered in the course include: installing and managing a Red Hat Network Satellite Server; provisioning systems using RHN, DHCP, and PXE; using version control to maintain configuration files; and building custom RPMS. In addition, a substantial part of the class is dedicated to the use of Virtualization in systems deployment. Virtualization topics include: an overview of virtualization; installing, configuring, and managing virtual machines; understanding the hypervisor; using virtual machine snapshots; network configuration with virtualization.

Skills Gained

Counts towards RHCA certification This expertise Certificate of Expertise is one of five required to earn the designation Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA). Each course in the RHCA curriculum is followed by an expertise exam on the fifth day. Expertise exams may be taken immediately following the corresponding course, or at any time. The exams are performance-based and test skills of the job role competencies covered in the prior four days of hands-on training. Passing an expertise exam earns the candidate an additional Certificate of Expertise to his or her RHCE credential for that specific enterprise skill set. Expertise exams vary in length from 2 to 8 hours depending on the course, and can only be taken by current RHCEs. Official notification of PASS or DID NOT PASS is sent via email within 3 weeks of the expertise exam.

Who Can Benefit

Only RHCEs on a current release may take this exam. All candidates are strongly advised to take RH401 Red Hat Enterprise Deployment, Virtualiztion, and Systems Management in advance of attempting this exam.
