Course Description

This is the second course in the PowerHA SystemMirror curriculum. It is specifically for PowerHA SystemMirror 7 and later. It will expand on the basic skills taught in the first class, introducing more complex cluster configurations, making use of resource group dependencies, DLPAR, WPAR and Smart Assists.

This course provides lectures and hands on labs in a face-to-face classroom setting. The course is also offered in a live virtual classroom environment (ILO - Instructor Led Online) with hands-on labs PowerHA SystemMirror 7 Advanced Configurations (ILO) (AX620)

  • Creating a cluster using Smart Assists
  • Expand an existing cluster
  • Add two nodes to an existing two node cluster
  • Manually add TSM to an existing active-passive cluster to create an active-active cluster (with the existing HTTP application)

  • Create a parent child relationship between the HTTP application and the DB2 application

Who Can Benefit

This intermediate course is for students who are experienced AIX system administrators with TCP/IP networking and AIX Logical Volume Manager (LVM) experience who are responsible for the planning and installation of a PowerHA SystemMirror 7.1 and later clustesr on an IBM power systems server running AIX 6.1 or later. The lab exercises are conducted on an AIX 6.1-level system.

Prerequisites

You should have:

  • A basic-level knowledge of PowerHA SystemMirror or HACMP, and AIX TCPI/IP and LVM. This can be obtained by taking PowerHA SystemMirror 7 Planning, Implementing, Customizing, Administrating (AN61) PowerHA SystemMirror 7 Planning, Implementing, Customizing, Administrating (ILO) (AX61)
