An Introduction to Oracle Solaris 11 Workshop - Austin
Oracle Solaris 11 builds on the proven technologies of the industry’s #1 UNIX, and adds new technologies designed to accelerate adoption of enterprise scale workloads in public, private and hybrid cloud environments. Oracle Solaris 11 is supported on hundreds of SPARC and x86 platforms, including Oracle’s Exadata, Exalogic and SPARC SuperCluster engineered systems.
Join us for this free workshop and see how Oracle Solaris 11 builds on the reliability, security and performance of Oracle Solaris10 by adding new features to take on the most challenging issues customers face today developed applications. Enhancing our built-in compatibility features.
In this lab we introduce the most interesting features of Solaris 11, based on real life use cases. We will:
- Create a pool and a file system with ZFS; expand it; snapshot and clone it; use ZFS compression and deduplication
- Create a new boot environment as a backup, make our current system unbootable because of some fatal mistakes, reboot the system using backup BE
- Create a couple of zones; install some applications into them; clone a zone; use Resource Management within the zones
- Learn how to better protect your systems and applications with Solaris security features
- Use DTrace to find bottlenecks in the system
This workshop is designed for: System Architects, DBAs, and IT Managers. RAC and ASM knowledge is a requirement. All participants will gain exposure to the Oracle DB Machine and Oracle software, illustrating the advantages of an integrated hardware and software solution.
