Company Overview
The Early Years
GCA Technology Services started in 1987 as a reseller for vendors such as Sun Microsystems, HP, Novell, and Checkpoint as well as various storage related companies. We provided staff augmentation, a few training services and placed very little focus on the software business. Our main focus in the late 1980's was hardware solutions. It was not until 1997 when GCA Technology Services first started exploring the concept of consulting services.
GCA Technology Services Enters Services Business
In 2001, Jim Quasius purchased the company and kept the "GCA" name alive. The company goal was to transform from a reseller based company to one focused on services. We started delving into professional services by transforming our learning services division and quickly took the company from one classroom in one city to 20 classrooms across seven cities. We established our niche in the marketplace by offering training around middleware and leveraging our experience with Netscape solutions. When the iPlanet Alliance came to fruition, we were in the right place at the right time and we quickly became the go to partner for Netscape/iPlanet/SunONE/JES training. Our classes were always full due to the fact that our instructors are also consultants who have real world experience to back up the classroom environment. During that time we became Sun's Authorized Training Center of the Year from 2001 to 2004 and we have been Sun's top selling ASEC (Authorized Sun Education Center) in North America for the past three years. We also deliver training for Novell, Websense and Microsoft and resell training for Oracle, IBM, as well as our own branded learning services.
GCA Technology Services provides courseware development services for various vendors and is most notably known for having created Sun Microsystems' curriculum for their Sun Java CAPs (SOA), Portal Server, Identity Manager, Application Server and Web Server classes. Our focus to develop content based on experience (and not simply a regurgitation of user manuals) had made GCA Technology Services a premier developer of courseware.
GCA Technology Services differs from other companies because of our ability to blend consulting and training into the same engagement. In the classroom, we take a consultative approach to training by bringing in real world experience. In the customer environment, we take a training approach to consultation by transferring knowledge at every step in the process and ensuring that the customer can take ownership when the engagement is over. We have the ability to take difficult concepts and put them in terms that our customers can understand and we generate documentation that makes it clear what was just deployed and how to support it.
